Landscaping your home is a huge investment. It’s a great idea to create a collage, either actual or virtual to compile some visuals for what you have in mind. Additionally, thinking about the care of your investment is essential; plants are not maintenance free. Here are a few questions to ask yourself before you begin:
- Am I willing to make sure the plants I install have all the water and nutrients they need to thrive?
- Do I travel a lot? If so, how will my plants be cared for while I am away?
- What colors do I prefer?
- Do I prefer a manicured looking landscape, or natural looking landscape?
- What size plants do I prefer?
- Do I have allergies to any plants?
- Do I want evergreens, deciduous, or both?
- Do I want flowering plants?
- Do I want edible plants?
- What are my home owner’s association rules about landscape changes?
- Do I need to choose plants that deer won’t eat?
- Do I have a plan for fertilizer, fungicide, and pesticide treatments?
